Hi all

Finally decided not go with a home biuld for my first foray in ebike ownership. I've pretty much decided on Aliens GS Matrix (especially since they dropped the price to £625)

I was just wondering if anyone had one of these and could provide any input before I hit the Order button ?

I've read plenty about Alien and Jim generally but can't find anything on this model. The GS 2 which has some great reviews is not longer being sold by them

As I live in Brighton I'm nowhere near Scotland to go for a test ride !

much appreciated

I think u get what you pay for and the matrix reflex is a cheap as chips hardtail bike with very low quality conponents it can be bought for £130 and I presume the e kit is a bafung 250w hub motor and these are the cheapest kits supplied by bmsbattery website.
I have not seen any reviews on the bike and maybe check ebay for a good slighty used bike at half price or less :)

About as basic as you can get really but a budget price that would save the hassle of a kit and you'd still have warrenty.

What you you be using the bike for?
What is your realistic budget?

Alien are friendly people who back up their warranty. Recommended.

As above, it's a budget bike but probably fine. The one thing missing is a pedelec and although I was initially skeptical, I really like it as a cruise control. But I'd want it switchable with either a thumb or hand throttle as an alternative for dense traffic and slow off road.

I'd recommend buying a cheap made up bike as a first E-Bike to get a toe in the water. After 6 months you'll probably think of loads of DIY improvements and start the search for the holy grail of what you really want. If you already have a sorted bike and can do the diy, then maybe try a kit instead. Again, Alien are as good a start as any.

I'd have absolutely no hesitation in buying another bike / kit from Alien. They have a good track record of providing decent quality bikes / service at relatively inexpensive prices. There must be someone on this forum who owns this particular model?
