Well we had a good look around the net for a 36V step through bike for her as she had a small windfall. She was looking for style , comfort and a bit more help now that she has got more in the swing of things.
Taking everything into consideration and remembering that looks are higher on the list for women than for men she plumped for a Synergie Breeze. Couldn`t find an actual review of the bike but the reviews of the other Synergie bikes seemed ok.
The fit and finish is very good, quality of cables and plastic no problem. There is a connector between the rear hub and the controller so that`s good news living where we do in Thornsville. Wheels are of good quality with 700C tyres(might need to put a set of Marathons on but we will see how things go)
Anne is fairly short so we had to remove the suspesion seat post and fit a new standard 27.2 staright post and had to let it right down as low as it will go.The handlebars are one of the icing on the cake items for Anne and with a bit of time and effort we found just the right height and angle for everything. I`m really impressed with the adjustable stem which not only allows a massive amount of adjustment but is of really good quality. The bike has an economy/sport swith on the left hand bar that really makes riding the bike in the style that you want a lot easier than just having one setting does all.
Noise from the brushed motor is just slightly up on my rear brushless motor which can`t be heard very much once you are underway. It came supplied with a top quality see through chain guard plus built in ladies dress guard in clear plastic( that will keep mud away from her clothes) Built in wheel lock might be handy. A decent set of 7 speed Shimano gears that have a few upgrades over mine that make them run silky smooth plus a crash guard in case the bike falls over.
I`ve already made patch leads up so that her bike can use my Alien battery or my Powertrek battery plus both my bikes can use her battery if needbe which when you consider the cost of a 36V battery covers almost half the cost.
The saddle is of top quality and very comfortable right away so that`s good. The grips on the bars are the sort that you would buy as an add on to get more comfort so thats another good point. Front light works off of the built in from hub dynamo and although probably lacking for night riding(which she nevers does anyway) is quite ok for daytime around the lanes as a bit of extra" see me" Rear light works on 2 AA bats and is LED and very bright. A decent set of tough looking mudguards with mud flaps on the rear of both mudguards.(a must have around here) The bike is a touch low geared with the small front chain ring so we shall see how it goes but there are one or two quite steep short hills around here where that low gear comes into it`s own and combined with the economy mode gives a really nice relaxed cruise around speed.
I shot two shortish videos this morning while we were out so you can take a look if you have the time and inclination.
So first impressions and the amount of mileage Anne will do this bike will definitely give her a bit more get up and go plus be a 100% jump in riding comfort.
