With two kids (now 3 & 1) I am looking for a bike trailer to go with my Raleigh Leicester E (same as Kalkhoff). I was looking at Wiggle (they have free delivery to France) here

Cycle | Cycling | Bike Trailers At Wiggle

but, having no experience at all of trailers, would welcome any input from those who have - I guess the usual trade off is price v weight?

I use a mini-on-me trailer bike with my Raleigh Dover Deluxe. I've used other trailer bikes over the years, and I prefer trailers that attach to a purpose-built rack that comes with the trailer, rather than to the seat post.

My experience with those that attach to seat post is that they feel a bit more wobbily, and, being 5'4", I can't mount the trailer fitting high enough on the seat post to allow me to continue to use a rack.

I've also found them much more fiddly to add/remove from my bike. The mini-on-me uses the rack system, and it attaches/detaches really easily.

If it's possible, try some out before you buy.
Good luck :)

Just noticed where you are. I stayed in Ferney Voltaire for a holiday in 2003 - beautiful. Didn't cycle there though :(

That's a shame - Ferney is good cycling country.

I hadn't given much thought to the connection to the bike - I thought they connected somewhere near the axle of the rear wheel.
