Anyone have a milling machine?

Looking to have a slot in the axle widened and deepened, is anyone here able to do it?

You could just make a stepped key? Easy enough if you're a dab hand with a grinder and a file. That shaft doesn't look a big enough diameter to have a much bigger keyway in it i.m.o.

Send me the dimensions you want and a bit of key steel and I'll file / grind one up for you if you like

thinking about buying one but not yet there, since the shaft is likely to be thermally treated this might be difficult to do milling it. Risk of cracking is quite high

Where the shaft steps down to the threaded section, there is very little material and decreasing it may lead to it breaking.
There was a recent incident of one breaking at that point on Endless sphere with a higher power hub, also if you hit a pothole the shock load will go through that point.
