Help needed please.

I have a battery display meter it's a (BY-YF 1020 Displayer) they are a common LED meter and are fitted to a lot of bikes and kits.
The problem I have is the LED's stay nice and bright all the time even when my battery is flat as I found out today when conditioning my battery. My battery is the type which also has a LED meter built in and this works fine.
There are only two wires to connect up one red one black which I have connected to the negative and positive from the battery.

Has anyone any idea why the LED's are not going out as the battery runs down.

Thanks in advance Andy...

that may be the problem, there are 24V and 36V versions and from what I've seen of them online they look identical...

You were right Alex it must be a 24v one I connected it to a 24v battery and all led's lit up, wired up two 12v bulbs and my multi meter and one by one they went out, the last at just under 20v.
So now i need to find out where to buy a new 36v one, can't find any on ebay.
