Battery Meter- is this necessary or a just a bit useful?

Well if you were building your own battery pack then a battery management system (BMS) is considered pretty much essential. This isn't one though and certainly isn't required for normal use.

I think Wisper have introduced it on the new models but it's probably way too much work to bother with retrofitting it, not essential at all.
