BEBA

The British Electric Bicycle Association was formed by a group of leading electric cycle manufacturers and distributors in the UK.

To ensure consistency in the level of service and quality of product provided to consumers and dealers, BEBA will create industry standard.

BEBA is an industry association to promote the use of Electric Assisted Bicycles. Efforts will be focused on educating consumers about the benefits of electric bicycles, giving them an ‘industry stamp’ of accreditation and recognition. BEBA are also to inject confidence into the market to help manufacturers secure retail outlets and ultimately increase sales.

All members will work together as a unified voice to challenge restrictive legislative changes, to drive positive regulatory and law changes. As a sel‐regulatory trade body, BEBA Members subscribe to an industry Code of Practice. BEBA has four core values:

1. Develop and grow the EAB market
2. Education and positive promotion of e‐cycling
3. Lobbying and public affairs for its members
4. Fair Business Practice and consumer protection

I hope this goes a little way to explaining what BEBA is all about, I will post the code of practice later today.

can you eloborate bit more on your four points here David? That does not say much and you can hang almost anything to those. That is how politics talk buttery butter and no solid info

Hi Alex

We are not a political organisation, we simply want to promote electric bikes in the UK and to steer the electric bike buying public to reputable and decent suppliers. We will not make a profit and all those putting in time do it freely without personal gain.

I will expand on the four points over the next few weeks but think they are pretty straight forward.
