The parents should sue the police for damages, they clearly not only exceeded their authority, they potentially damaged the lad's property since wheeling a bike with flat tyres damages tubes and tyres and they left him with no other option but to do that.

I've no time for the Australian police, they seem without exception to be despicable b**t**ds.

even the SE Asian countries which surround them often mock the Australians for their completely schizophrenic attitudes to personal freedom.

There are no helmet laws for instance in Malaysia or even Singapore, and cops rarely hassle cyclists unless they are doing something really illegal....

What an appalling tale. Thank goodness we're a bit more civilised and take a more intelligent approach. Just goes to show what happens when you let the anal-retentives get the upper hand.
