I have just broken a spoke. Possibly Belgian cobblestones, or is it?
I never remember spokes breaking years ago, so what has happened?
Could it be that the problem is using stainless steel?
Yachts use stainless steel for their rigging wires and it is notorious for suddenly snapping, so much so, that wiser owners change to galvanised mild steel which despite the rust problem gives way much more slowly, breaking a strand or two at a time, rather than whole caboodle.
