Building a Battery

Is there anywhere on this site showing you how to build a safe battery ?

I could do with a really good DIY guide showing where to source parts and how to put them together.

I'm into tropical fish keeping in a fully planted tank and recently built a top notch LED lighting unit so soldering isn't a problem. I just need a really good guide using pretty good uptodate technology.

For normal lithium-ion and LiFePO4 batteries, you can hardly buy the stuff cheap enough to justify building a battery. If you have access to cells, then it's a different matter.

Some people make a battery out of R/C lipo packs, which can be fun. Lipos need special management because of their power, so you have to read up on them a bit first.

Lipos can give you high power from a small pack, so can be useful for light-weight builds, or they give you a chance to get a battery with in between voltages like 31v, 44v, 52v, etc.
