Car Dvr - Date/time Stamp

I'm having trouble with the procedure for setting the data and time. This is what I've tried: copied TAG.txt from CD to root of SD card, modified and saved as suggested. Turned on device took some video. Turned off the device and the TAG.txt file has been removed as the instructions say. However, my vids still display 2008!
I am missing something?

[date]

Save in root.

disconnect camera
tune on video tune off
reconnect
Done.

Umm.. I thought I had done that ... 3 times! ... Ok now.
