Well, today I set off on a 20 mile round trip to Castelo de Vide, which is of Roman origin, in glorious sunshine, but I wont go on about the weather I dont want to rub it in.....some members seem sensitive to my weather reports ( muckymits :) ) LOL
Travelling along the hilly back road from the campsite to Castelo, with virtually no traffic, was sheer bliss.....with only the sound of birdsong and sheep/goat bells for company.
The scenery is mainly olive and cork oak trees with large escarpments of granite rocks.
This back road takes you into the town through the medieval arched entrance and on up the narrow cobbled streets into the main square of the town.
Turn right and head up even more steep cobbled streets past the fountain with its renaissance marble columns and up through the amazing jewish quarter which has the oldest synagogue in Portugal, you then reach the 14th century castle with impressive views over the Alentejo region to spain and of Marvao castle back in the distance.
The Portugese people are so friendly, especially in these more rural areas, it really is my most favourite country I think.
After enjoying the view, I headed back into the main square of the town and enjoyed a C and C at a pavement cafe, before the ride back.
The wonderful thing for me personally with this Tonaro bike, is that it has revolutionised my cycling life, I can now set out on whatever journey I like, within range, and know that no matter what the hills are and however much I enjoy the fast ride down, I know it will always get me back up them and that is such a thrill.
I did 20 miles today and still had 2 lights on, although obviously on the long downward hills the motor was off !
If anyone would like any further details of this wonderful area, campsites etc, you can always PM me its SO worth visiting....great cycling area.....

Sounds wonderful, Lynda - should have an ebike rally out there! (fun if old Indalo turned up-we could see what he's really like) hope my older Compy could keep up with your newer Esprit - later Tonaros seem to have even higher torque than the older ones.
