Hi

As a newbie to electric bikes, I was wondering, on my new bike the battery indicater in the handle bars went down to 1 segment, but when I pressed the button on the battery it came up with full set of led's.

So I was wondering what to the lights on the battery show?

I am charging the battery up for the first time, and I have read on here that I should leave the charger on a bit longer for the first 3 charges, but I am not sure how much longer I should leave it on for.

All answers would be gratefully accepted.

Thanks

What bike do you have? Different manufacturers recommend different things.

The handlebar led are not very good indicators - when the motor is pulling high amps (such as going up hills) the voltage can sag. This causes the lights to drop out. Stop for a few seconds and they all come back

The indicator on the battery itself is better

On my wifes bike (an oxygen diva) the battery vs displays works in the same way as yours, while there is some sign of the display sagging on hills, its pretty reliable on the flat. As experiment I charged the battery roughly until all the lights on the battery came on - afterwards, the bike is still 1/2 flat on the display (about 20 miles of riding difference)

look at the power on the charger, work out how long it should take to fully charge and leave it on for a bit longer than that?
