Aliexpress.com and DHgate.com sell batteries for far lower than what you'd find on Ebay. I recommend you check these sites out. I own a Woosh Krieger bike, and I've just found a 36V 15ah li-ion battery (charger included) that would fit my bike selling on DHgate for just £192 (shipping cost included in this figure). This is almost half the cost of what a replacement 15ah battery would cost from Woosh themselves (£315).

Having said the above though, I don't know much about batteries, or about the specifics of what separates a good-quality battery from a poor-quality one, and so it might be better for those of us without such knowledge to play it safe and stick with the more expensive option of purchasing from reputable UK-based suppliers.

Woosh & Eclipse use good quality Samsung cells and from BMSB &GBK you can get slightly better Panasonic cells, cheaper cost may mean that an inferior quality of cell is used but on the flip side someone needs to try them to let others know. If the cheaper ones lasted 2-3 yrs then it wouldn't be too bad.

If I buy a back-up battery and then don't use it for a year or 18 months, will it degrade?

In other words do Lipo's have a specific shelf life where the chemicals 'go off' irrespective of whether they are used or charged?

Hi Ajax,

I a word, yes.

Batteries cells start to age as soon as they are manufactured.

If you are not going to use one for an extended period they need a top up charge at least every 3 months, ideally they should be kept at 80%.

As a follow-up: I decided to pull the trigger on this and i am very pleased with the results.

From the time oforder to the parcel's arrival was about 5 days. The battery was shipped DHL from Berlin Germany. The packaging was just as you see in the photos, with everything brand new included the charger worth £35, the power connector lead, and the rack for the battery.

I took a peek inside the rear which was very professionally assembled, very tidy construction. Nothing heath-robinson there.

The cells used are Samsung Li-Ion battery ICR18650-26C 3,7V, Purples. Which i think are 2600mAh, just like the ones shown here on Amazon at £6 a pop.

This mean if they ever produce batteries with the lates higher capacity cells, the same battery form factor could be used to produce even higher current... At this price i am very pleased and i hope they are around long into the future for any other upgrades.
