How absolutely awful, particularly in The Netherlands where nearly everyone cycles or rides a cargo bike, or has done during their life. I can only think something malfunctioned but we will discover that in the weeks to come.

Doubly sad that this happened with such an attractive vehicle, I'm sure normally much more fun for young children that being strapped singly into the backs of 4 x 4's, as well as being environmentally better.

I hope it's not something fundamental that threatens their continuance, but it will have shaken parents faith in them.

Every time I read something like this, I put myself in place of the parents.
As a parent myself, stuff like this is one my worst nightmares. God help those poor families
