Hi, I have been using lipo's for many years and have a few redundant packs, I plan to make up a 10's 5000 pack as a get out of trouble to use if I get caught out on a long ride, as I did a couple of weeks ago.
The existing battery has 3 connections. Any advice is welcome as I don't want to damage anything.
Cheers
Paul

Your battery main connection probably only uses two wires , the easiest answer is to solder new M/F connectors compatible with lipo's to the main battery supply ( pos/neg) and then just unplug it to plug in the lipo's. Or splice a spur into the battery supply, however you go about it make sure the main battery is switched off before connecting the lipo's, already used to lipo's alerms will be needed to avoid low voltage. If you wish you could add a fuse to the pos side to prevent any power surges.

Thanks for your reply an sound advice, I did some detailed inspection and found that one of the three spade connectors on bike end is a dummy with no connection on the battery side, this is what caused my confusion and your reply prompted me to look a lot closer.
I have been using lipo's for a long time, I was one of the first registered drone pilots in the UK, having flown RC heli's and fixed wing for a lot of years, in the early days we were flying German Mikrokopter craft and that required lots of soldering etc and careful use of lipo's.
So I will make up a 10 cell pack, I will put a watt meter in as well as a couple of lipo alarms. Thanks

Great problem solved. I also have a watt meter wired in as a fuel gauge and also use alarms just in case I need to eke out extra range without going to low on the V's.

Glad I kept my 500W Psu and 450watt lipo chargers. Most of the time I return from a day out with at least 50% battery but a couple of weeks ago I ran out about 4 miles from home with a long slow climb still to do. Hope this will solve the problem.
