Hello,

Can anyone answer this question? We all use different types of controllers at various amperage ratings.
If your specific controller is set to 20amps, 30amps or 40amps and so on, will the controller allow you to exceed its maximum setting when climbing steep hills or should it not exceed its limit ? For example a 20amp up to 28amps or 40amps up to 48amps or more.
Is this good or bad, or does this put more strain on the battery pack.

It won't exceed the maximum when climbing. That's about the only time you'll see the maximum.

The more amps yoir controller is set to, the more the strain on the battery.

Some controllers will allow you to exceed their "max amps" for the phase current for a few seconds. I know the Infineon does that.

If your controller allows a temporary excess on max battery amps (I think mine does) then that could be handy. In my case, I'm not worried about the strain on my battery, because I'm running 20C 5ah Lipos, which means they're rated to give 100 amps, and I'm pulling a "maximum" of 30, so if it goes up to 40, it's well within my battery rating. Your battery is probably different.
