Hi, I have a new brushless sensorless controller which I'm using as part of a new DIY build. I've figured out what most of the connections are for but there are two 3 pin connectors one with red, black and green wires, the other has red, black and blue.
Both are carrying 5V on the red and black wires. I'm guessing one of these connectors is for the throttle and the other must be for the pedelec sensor? Are the two interchangable from the point of view of the controller?

The controller is expecting an ascending voltage as the throttle is opened ( 0-4v ) on one of the inputs.

On the other input the controller is looking for a sequence of pulses as the magnetic pedelec sensor switches the 5v on and off.

You can safely use the 'suck-it-and-see' method, as long as you maintain correct polarities.

O.K. Thanks, I'll try sucking it to see!

If the controller is looking for a sequence of pulses, presumably this means there's a chance it wont work without a pedelec sensor?

Hi

If you suck it and see you will find the pedal sensor is banana flavored and the throttle is strawberry
Off course it will run without the pedal sensor connected

If you mean using throttle only, then yes. To hazard a guess I would connect the throttle to the RED-BLACK-GREEN connector first ( the GREEN wire being SIGNAL ).

I suspect the BLACK-RED-BLUE connector is for Pedelec sensor.

The throttle input is expecting a continous voltage, rising from zero to five volts as the throttle is opened.

The pedelec input is expecting pulses of five volts as the pedelec sensor magnets switches the five volts on and off, I suspect the BLUE wire is signal on that connector

Frank, It's a figure of speech. By all means suck the connector literally if you wish, you never know, it might be the nearest thing you'll get to a 'TINGLE' at your age.

WARNING

Sucking a 240 volt AC connector can be injurious to health.
