Time Owned: 2+ Years

Local Terrain: Moderate Hills

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Strengths:
I put the Currie Kit onto the following bike:
Trek Navigator 100 - 14.5 inch frame - Ladies low step through.
Easy install of the motor and controller. Once installed no need to mess with it again!!
Fantastic on hills even better on the flat :).
Great on-demand power.
Modes of power:
Power Only
Pedal and Power
Cycle Only
Ease of use and all weather motor.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Weaknesses:
Probably one weakness some people might find is the noise...I actually don't think its that bad.
The lead acid batteries add a lot of weight.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:
One of the best buys I've ever made! and not that expensive really.
With me installing it on a small low step through bike, I had to opt for the rack mounted option.
The rack is supplied with the kit so there is room for my panniers as well.
I did have to buy additional parts for the rack, as again, coz of the small frame, I needed to change the seat clamp for one that had "eyelets" on, and find additional extensions for the rack attachment "arms"
Once it was all done, my god was it worth it... I left my husband behind struggling and puffing.
If you have a small bike, don't be put off, invest in one.
As for range, I do probably around 10 miles a day and weekends maybe around 25 miles, not using the motor all the time (I pedal sometimes!)
I havn't really pushed it for range but it does me for what I need.

Purchased From: eBay

Purchase Price: £200

Time Owned: 1 Month

Local Terrain: Very Hilly

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Strengths:
Simplicity, quality, power, ease of maintainance. You can add it to your favourite bike instead of buying a complete additional machine. Good
hill climbing ability.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Weaknesses:
Heavy lead acid batteries, though a n expensive NiMH option is becoming available as an upgrade when purchasing new kits from electro-drive .:07974 723996:., drive chain adjustment is a bit fiddly, no regeneration or brake cutouts, lumpy appearance.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:
This is a bolt on kit with a 450 watt motor and motor controller built into the battery casing (New model). No gearing, but pulls well up 1
in 8 hills at around 12mph, and will top out at around 17mph on the flat. Quite easy to fit and set up, it's best suited to an MTB with a 145mm rear wheel spindle. I modified an old road bike with a longer spindle after spreading the chainstays about 4mm to accomodate the drive system. Only fits 36 spoke wheels without disc hub, though Currie may be able to supply a
drive unit for other spoke configurations direct from America.
