I changed the original chinese battery a TOMO 23a 12v super Alkaline for a Duracell M21/23 in my wireless cycle computer and it doesn't work ,put the old battery back in works fine . The old battery 11.6v new battery 12.3v . Can anyone tell me is there a diference between the batteries.

Check that the contacts actually make contact. You might have to bend one a bit because the Duracell battery end are probably flatter and the case is lifting the contact off. The only other possibility is putting it the wrong way round.

You need to check three things for the computer to work:

1. The sender unit on the fork has a working battery (12v cell).
2. The gap between the magnet on the spoke and the sender unit on the fork is within the recommended tolerance
3. The receiver unit on the handlebars has a working battery (3v button cell).

Both batteries are available from Poundland:

Thanks shemozzle999 everything was working fine till I changed the
Battery for a new one , it doesn't now read over 4 mph so I put the old battery
Back in and working o.k. again , thought there might have been
A difference in the battery chemistry or something. I do believe
The Duracell battery is made up of button cells.

As well as the magnet having to be close enough to the sender unit it also be aligned so that it sweeps directly over the sensor contained in the sender unit.
You will need to check that this is still the case. Usually the sensor area is marked on the outside of the casing of the unit.
