Cycling in Bath like in Amsterdam :-)

Hello there,

I moved from Amsterdam to Bath 4 years ago. Having tried an e-bike on our council's excellent free loan scheme I realised that Bath is cyclable -- I just need a pedelec engine to make this work.

So now I'm trying to pick a bike that could get me (5.2ft 62kg F) and my toddler (11 kgs, 2yo) up a 20% incline on the way home. I'm considering buying a hybrid now and moving onto a cargo bike in 2-3 years when my precious human-shaped cargo weighs closer to 20 kgs. For now a cargo bike seems a bit like an overkill.

Perhaps this forum will help me decide?

When the time comes you could consider a “Tag Along” then sprog can pedal long too. Or a trailer. keeps your bike as you like it rather than a ponderous lump when you don’t need the extra space
