Does any one have an old ezee battery?

Can anyone help? I cycle to work, 30 miles each way each day, using two/three batteries, and store them in an Ezee pannier which just fits two batteries. When swapping batteries I have caught the slighty raised external fuse casing of one battery with the other battery, and broken it. I have made a temporary repair with parcel tape but I experience loss of power at times and have to retape it.

I wonder if anyone out there has a battery which is defunct/an ex battery/extinct/dead/without life etc.... My battery is 13 months old but, over the last week has been performing wonderfully and I would like to give it a new shell.

There's a low temperature plastic called Polymorph which I find to be excellent for making repairs on all manner of plastic things. It melts at 60C, so you can just use a cup of boiling water to soften it up. You can squish it with your fingers into whatever shape you need... it sets hard again after about 5 minutes. Once it's cooled off, you can heat it up again with a hairdryer for any final tweaks and modifications.... and best of all, it's available on the high street at Maplin... Polymorph > Maplin

Depending on how bad the break is, you might find this a lot simpler than getting hold of a spare casing.

Polymorph. I saw that episode of Red Dwarf!

Thanks, I will buy some from Maplins in Harlow tomorrow. As you suggest, it might be a lot easier to glue it back in than to move all the battery parts into a new casing.

Just thought I should mention that Polymorph isn't a glue itself.. but it can be glued with superglue. It's useful for bridging gaps and holding components in place, but it won't stick well to the original plastic unless you add some glue.

I bought some of that Polymorph stuff off eBay last year direct from the science lab buffs who claimed to make it in Britain - £2.95 per pack. Just noticed they're £5 odd this year; but there's quite a variety of sizes available. Here's their £5 pack -

250g POLYMORPH Amazing mouldable thermoplastic 250g on eBay, also, Paint Body Shop Supplies, Garage Equipment Tools, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 06-Dec-08 08:07:05 GMT)

There's also the modeller's favourite - Miller's or something , being going for years.

Polymorph and glue!

Thanks for explaining this. I will ask Maplins what glue to buy to make it bond to the original plastic
