Hi All,
Well after a series of repairs (mainly replacing the broken internal plastic gear with a custom made metal one) my ebike is back on the road.
Unfortunately the octagon head of the drive shake that connects to the chain ring spider is smoothing off sufficiently that the chain ring slips.
I have to say I am not impressed at the engineering on this thing - yes it works, but a lot of it seems designed with obsolescence built in.
So I am left with 3 options - drill and pin the midpoints on the octagon faces, weld it, or replace the drive shaft.
The drilling will need to be precision and I lack a suitable clamp and pillar drill, the welding will be permanent - no more servicing and bosch don't sell parts to mere owners and users.
So I thought I would check if anyone has a dead drive unit , outside of warranty that they would be happy to sell for me to cannibalise for parts - I promise to put it to good use
- Shattered gears, burnt out motor, dead circuit board all ok - I just need the central shaft intact.
And on the topic of "no user serviceable parts" there is no such thing - merely varying levels of user ability!
