Drivers caught out by new tax rules

Yes, this is a really big problem and a large proportion of drivers have no idea of their change.

A week ago a DVLA licensing hoist truck was busy in my estate taking away cars, no doubt for this reason.

It's all rather unfair since there was no national warning of the change via news media on radio or TV and none of these drivers had any intent to be untaxed. This government certainly knows how to make itself unpopular.

Also under the new rules I think it works out that there is almost always a period when both the old owner & the new owner are both paying.

e.g. old owner sells 15 April, they receive a refund received based on full months left i.e. 1 May on.
New owner has to pay for tax based on from 1 April.

Result April tax paid twice!

This is indeed a rip off, with modern software the tax change could easily be done to the day or the exact hour. It beats me why the so called motoring organisations have not taken this on properly.
