Hi I am new to this forum. My qyestion is regarding buying used e bikes. I see plenty of adverts for bikes with a speedo reading of total distance travelled like a car speedo. Can dealers reset these speedo and add a few miles back on to disguise the total distance travelled etc. Do I only buy if I can test ride etc. There are a few online dealers that will box it send it etc. If its no good then you have to send it back etc. Thanks Bigfoot.

With some one might be able to enable a reset to zero but one can't really fudge them and on a bike no point, other wise a new display would read zero.

General condition you can assess through pics. Battery is the unknowable, so adjust what you are willing to pay based on your level of trust in the info you are being given.

Remember that age and how it has been stored matter as well as how much use it has had in battery health.

Check a replacement battery is available, and cost, and factor in some proportion of that on top of the purchase price.

The speedo might well register the wrong mileage (and speed) if the bike has been used with a dongle. The seller will probably have removed it before selling. A dongle might well have put added strain on the battery as well.

All depends on the type of bike system used.
