I recently stayed at the camp site in Glenridding on Ullswater. Those who know this site realise that it is at the top of a very steep hill.
I had my Woosh folder in the campervan and used it to run around the village and the sailing club.
This is serious rock climbing, fell walking and sailing territory, not for sight seeing etc.
Very few bikes indeed.
Most people were amazed at the casual way, me an old gent was nipping around shopping, going to the pub etc. on a bike. Lots of people asked me about it, hope I made a few converts.

My point us that just like where I live in Wales, Glenridding is very hilly, yet I was able to ride around with no sweat at all. I think that I opened a number of peoples eyes to what an electric bike can do.
Very few sports cyclists indeed enter the area, coaches of sight seers do come now and then but the roads to Glenridding are atrocious.

I used to ride from Penrith to Glenridding when I was a kid with my mate and get the steamer back to Pooley Bridge, but I wouldn't ride along the northern side of the lake these days, it's just too dangerous.

The southside has less traffic though and Pooley Bridge to Martindale is a nicer ride as it is not a through road.

If anybody wants a challenge in that area, try riding from Dacre village up Dacre banks as far as the A66, that's steep:eek:
