I know this is off topic but this is the only place I can think of where i might get help.
Due to medical problems I sometimes have to forgo my electric bike and use a mobility scooter. The problem i have is that despite new batteries my scooter is doing less than 2 miles before running out of juice rather than the advertised 20 miles.
Could this be the controller or the motor or what ?
Any help would be appreciated as I can't get help anywhere else and mobility scooter repair men charge the earth.

I'd suspect one of three things. All of which would need testing to ascertain but they are

1. A duff charger. Check the charger output with multimeter and post it here.

2. Duff battery (or cell string/s) Which bring the pack down. To test charge batteries till full. Check with multimeter and post results here. Then go for spin till the system cuts out. Measure the battery again . Post results here

3. The replacement batteries cannot cope with the demand on them. We need to know more about the scooter and power demands . And the battery specifics

I'd say that the new batteries are the wrong type. I would guess that you have the low power ones for alarms and CCTV, but you need the high power ones for electric vehicles. Either that or they didn't give you new batteries.

If you can read the designation on them, we can confirm whether they're the right type.

Did your old batteries give a longer range before being replaced? This would eliminate the charger and scooter.

Batteries are 2x 12v 35amp sealed lead acid the correct for this scooter according to the manual.
Charger gives a full charge according to the gauge but haven't been down to check with a meter yet as can't manage the stairs.
I am loath to go out again and run it till it dies as it is a bugger to push it all the way home.
The old batteries seemed to do the same which is why I replaced the with new ones but this hasn't cured the problem.

We need the designation that's written on the battery and the makers name.

If you have tried two sets of batteries and the charger says OK, then the issue is somewhere else.
A loose connection can drain a battery.
