Does anyone have any experience using tyre repair gumptions ie Holts Tyre Weld et al? Thinking of getting one as a means of getting me to work or home in event of a puncture.

Yes - I've used them on motorbike tyres before and got a bike version, which I used when I had the puncture on my Wisper a few months ago. It enabled me to go the last 3 or 4 miles to work when I was in a hurry. It didn't fix it completely, and rendered the tube irreparable, but it got me to my destination. I always carry one in my pannier tool-kit.

Tried twice (holts I think), both time a complete failure and wrecked the inner tubes as well. I swapped to Marathon Plus and no blow outs so far (in 18 months). Having said that I have a slow puncture which I am about to investigate.

My mate used it in the tube of his back tyre (250cc trail motorcycle) when he got a slow puncher. 4 years later when he sold the bike it was still in the back wheel – never went down again.
Holts Tyre Weld is designed to seal slow punctures and works best in slow moving wheels (max speed 30mph, or so) - ideal for ebikes I suppose :)
