Hi everyone,

I’ve ridden over 5,000 miles in the past 20 months without any issues, but today my bike suddenly lost power while stopping at a red light and hasn’t turned back on since. I checked the controller and found one of the cable connections wet and corroded (likely the one connected to the YL-80C display). I suspect the controller is damaged and needs to be replaced, but I’m unsure which replacement would work. I’m also wondering if it would be more economical to get a full kit that includes a new display rather then find exact replacement. One of my main concerns is the motor cable, which appears to connect directly into the controller hub. I'd like to avoid any soldering if possible. The controllers listed on the official website are old out. Some third-party sellers do have options, but their photos show something different then engwe official website. I’ve attached photos of the controller, the corroded connection, and the motor cable. I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations on a suitable replacement.IMG_20250604_200313.jpgIMG_20250604_200350.jpgIMG_20250604_211252.jpg

If I were in that position, I'd cut off bothe connectors and join the wires together directly. None of the carry any significant current, so you'd be OK twisting them together and using either a bit of heatshrink tube or insulating tape to protect them. It will probably work like that.

If the LCD still doesn't work, just join the red wire to the blue on the controller side connector. That will give you some minimal function until you can get properly sorted. Normally any throttle will still work and the pedal assist will give you level 1.

That's a standard motor connector. Is there another one near the motor? If so, you can replace the cable with whatever you need for the new controller. If not, you can get a short motor cable and use it as an adapter. either way, there should be no need to solder whichever controller you get.

When changing to a different type of controller, I always recommend to get one with the block connectors, not the waterproof sealed ones because occasionally the sequence of the wires needs to be adjusted in the motor cable or the pedal sensor connection.
