I've got the chance to get an electric bike on my companies C2W scheme which is tied in with Evans. The bike has to be £1000 pounds. I've got a HPvelo Spirit which needs an assist added. The question is: which of the following has the best assist which would suit my Spirit?

Powabyke X-6 2009 Electric Bike
Claud Butler Glide I 2011 Electric Hybrid
Claud Butler Glide Folder 2011 Electric Folding Bike
Claud Butler Glide I 36v 2011 Electric Hybrid Bike
Claud Butler Glide II 2011 Electric Hybrid Bike

A Powabyke with its assist removed wont be much use so I'm guessing it'll have to be one of the Claud Butlers. Dont need a folder, so its between these three:

Claud Butler Glide I 2011 Electric Hybrid - £799.99
Claud Butler Glide I 36v 2011 Electric Hybrid Bike - £999.99
Claud Butler Glide II 2011 Electric Hybrid Bike - £999.99

There is no info on the Evans site but looking at the pictures we have a combination of front and rear hub? As front hub would be easier for me to do so I need this one:

Claud Butler Glide II 2011 Electric Hybrid Bike - £999.99

Can someone please check my reasoning?

Hi Kitchenman,

Just to understand you correctly, you are thinking of buying and electric bike under the C2W scheme for £1000 or less, then transferring the electric kit to your wife's recumbent?

Yes! I think its a brilliant idea. It may be a little ... umm .. underhand? ... The money that pays for the bike is taken every month so I dont have to fork out.... hundreds of pounds in one go ...and then Louise can have her assist and everyones happy?
