I’m Nick and i recently created my first E-bike using my 26 year old Diamond Back Topanga 21 speed MTB. I restored the machine in 2014 after 20 years of ownership including a full professional respray in my fave colour ‘Roulette Green’ but rode it little after as i found it hard going. My efforts seemed all for nothing!!
Zoom on another 7 years and i have discovered Bafang!!!
Well my riding eagerness is restored and i have covered 30 miles just this week going to and from work. Something i would never have achieved without E-assistance.
Installed a BBS02b 750 with a C18 and a 48v17.5mAh pack. (Fully stripped the new motor and thoroughly cleaned out all factory lube and repacked with Aeroshell 22. No Mineral lube anywhere!)
Bike weight before conversion 12kg/27lb after conversion 20kg/ 44lb!!
Now having great fun trying out different controller recipes to find which one suits me best. Currently using ‘Karls Special Sauce’ going to try a smooth setting next.
