Evolution bike cuts out for just a second

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a second hand electric bike. It seems great and what I wanted, but it has a problem and Iw as wondering if you could tell me if this is a big deal and I should contact the shop that sold it to me.

I will be riding to work and after about 5-10 minutes the motor stops, and if I keep pedalling it then starts again after a second or two. This can happen multiple times on a journey, only ever for a second.

How big of a problem do you think this is?

Thanks

Roz

Do you have a speedo that can tell you how fast you are going when this happens? If it is (approximately) 15.5mph (or 25kph) then it's likely to be the legal limit cutting out until you drop back to a slower speed.

Some systems do this cut-out nice and gently, others are a bit clunky; done badly it can feel like a choppy ride, even though it is doing what it is meant to.

If you can give more details about the bike, that may help people advise. What's the model and year of manufacture? Are there any pics online?

OK thank you! I don't have a speedo, but that could be it. I'll try to keep note of it tomorrow morning when I cycle to work.
I haven't got the details with me at the moment as I'm away from my house but I'll repost tomorrow if I don't think it's about the speed.

Thanks so much!

No probs. You can always fit a wire-based digital speedo; I expect a cheap one would cost around 10GBP from eBay or a local bike shop.
