So I've been officially on here for a few months and been dipping in and out as a guest for several years. It's almost 4 years since I started looking at ebikes and finally I have mine. I decided on a 2019 Cube Town hybrid SL 500
Bosch ALP motor, Shimano Nexus 8 hub gears with Di2 shifting.
Today was my first ride out so these are my initial thoughts.
I love the riding position, upright and no stretch to the handlebars. The motor is really quiet, certainly compared to a performance line & a Haibike Yamaha I tested.
I spent a fair bit of my ride above the cut off but didn't feel any drag and power comes back in smoothly.
I didnt really give the auto gears a go during tests so used them throughout my ride and it was a revelation. I can see me using it a lot.
A few steep hill sections but only used sport once.
I covered 20 miles but the range had only dropped 10 miles at the end in eco mode.
Conclusion:
I really like the bike even more than when I had a test ride. It's really comfortable, relaxed riding position, very quiet and relatively quick.
Ride stats:
20.3 miles
AVG 18.8mph
Gain 508ft
HR 180bpm (max)
Role on the weekend!
