Folding bead or wire bead?

Apart from weight and convenience of storage, are there any disadvantages of choosing a wired bead version over a folding bead version of the same tyre?

The wired version can be a fair bit cheaper on some manufacturer's products.

I have no idea, but a quick Google search reveals that the subject seems to create a fair bit of arguing on various cycle related forums.
