Back in November I jotted down some initial thoughts about my Ave XH-3. After a few months have sailed by, I figured it was time I reviewed it properly. Since high-res photos of bikes aren't always available, I've taken a set of snaps and linked to them from the article. Enjoy!
One of the issues I raise in the piece is the problem of multinational manufacturers requiring warranty claim components to be returned to them in order to assess whether they'll cover the costs of repair/replacement. I can see why they do this, though for those of us reliant on our bikes, it can put the use of the bike (or the use of the electrical assist) on hold for an extended period.
I should therefore be interested in people's experience here of the larger e-bike brands: are some policies better than others? Are dealers more likely to hold spares for everything for one brand over another? Can the electrics be repaired by your dealer, or are they only dealt with overseas?
