Hi. I'm a newbie on here and had my first go on a number of electric bikes at Flat Earth yesterday. The owner, Dave, was incredibly helpful and I think I've narrowed my choice down to either a Benelli Rapido or a BH Evo. Will be doing short commutes and fun rides on road, bridle ways and forest tracks. Bike will fit in back of Globebus motorhome too so will bring the pub closer:)
Any advice you can give me will be gratefully received. Thinking of buying on one of the cycle schemes and wonder why I've read a couple of negative things about them.

Looks and probably is amazing! It's a grand more than the BH and twice as much as the Benelli. I'm new to this but aren't you asking me to compare a BMW m3 with a Golf Gti?

you can get a cube hard tail for about 1500 with a bosch motor.

hub motors no good if wanting to go off road or will keep braking the spokes.

you can get a kit for not very much and convert it your self if you have a bike that is.

Have never driven either but do notice the bh evo appears to have a geared hub motor where the benelli is the non geared type.. the geared ones appear to be better in hilly terrain given an equal power rating. I cycle geared hub motors in moderately hilly roads and find them very adequate given that I like to peddle a bit too. Personally I think both look really pretty particularly the bh with the hidden batteries.I bought my first e bike on the cycle scheme . Saved me a few quid. And I too carry mine in a camper and also do pub runs and longer afternoons out. Whichever you choose I'm sure you will enjoy. It really takes the pain out of cycling. Regards

Do you think a ten year old specialised FCR XC is worth converting then? Still a very good bike and I get decent use out of it.
I know there's loads on conversions in other threads but very difficult to know what's best to do.
