Anyone got any clues as to when electric bikes are going to appear on main stream tele again? Seems a while since there was any coverage... last I remember was the Gadget Show in which the A2B won against Wisper et al?

Anyone ever find out why Wisper did not feature?

There was a thread about this sometime ago, I think the bikes chosen where deemed to make for 'good telly' over other more practical conciderations....

Blokey who rides the A2B on the gadget show owns an A2B, might have something to do with the outcome. Plus it's mainly an entertainment show and many tests are very one sided.

We were a bit disappointed by the results, but as Mussells says there seems to be correlation between the bloke having an A to B Metro for his own use and the fact that the Metro won the event!

Speaking to Mark L last week he too has now decided to pull out of the Gadget Show Live as electric bikes are not and should not be seen as gadgets. I believe Cytronex have made the same decision for similar reasons.

There was an article on Electric Bikes on Irish TV yesterday;

YouTube - GoEco on RTE's Nationwide showing Europe's first electric bike holidays

All the best

I know where you are coming from, David. They did an HD camcorder comparison and my Panasonic was amongst them. The Panasonic was doing really well but fell short in one titchy little area. The Sony wasn't looking so clever but excelled in this one titchy little area where the Panasonic didn't. It got top spot with the Panasonic coming in second. This one titchy little area? Can't recall right now but they considered it very important and I didn't. The Sony's failings would have put me off far more than the Panasonics one titchy little let down!

I had the feeling that the Sony was let off it's failings and the excuse was this one area. Even Brian felt that the Panasonic should have come out on top as it had the overall better picture quality.

It doesn't surprise me that an e-bike should come out better than another even though it isn't. It's not the first time I've noticed little twisted facts and I eventually gave up watching it because of a bias that was creeping (understatement) into the show.

Best regards.

Vikki.

He already had an A2B before trying the one on the show, that's why he grabbed it and hid it from Suzi so she couldn't get her hands on it.

Best regards.

I used to be a project engineer in the TV industry and for reliability I'd choose Panasonic over Sony all the time.

Sony claimed to have the features and but rarely delivered them in a way that would integrate nicely with other equipment - nor was the kit reliable, and customer service across the industry was apalling.

And I'm talking about business-critical stuff costing the equivalent of entire containers of e-bikes..

another bit of inside info is the entire "creative" industries have been experiencing harder and harder times since the dot com crash, (exacerbated by the above problems). so there is plenty of opportunity for "product placement" (i.e covert advertising) and no such thing as a impartial documentary.

Hi Billy

You should try an A to B Metro they are great! OK they don't maybe have a huge range but they are a lot of fun.

It did on the day seem that it was a forgone conclusion and to be fair our Wisper bikes weren't as they are now. Don't forget there were some great bikes there including the E Motion, Kalkhoff and Cytronex. We were all a tad surprised at the outcome! :D

All the best
