Did quite a high hill climb on my new Crossfire, image below. I had it in a low gear, but this got me thinking about battery life. Does the gear choice affect battery life?

A bike with a hub-motor has no idea what gear you're in because the motor is driving the wheel directly. The slower you go, the more current you draw from the battery until you reach the maximum (probably 15A) at somewhere around 12 mph, so any speed below that will be the same current. Obviously, the slower you go up a hill, the more time it takes, so the more time you're drawing the maximum current, but I wouldn't have thought that that would make a big difference to the battery's life. I'm assuming that by battery life, you mean the length of time before you need a new one, not the time before needing a re-charge.

Thanks for the response. Sorry no, I meant the time before it becomes flat and requires a charge. If I'm in a low gear and pedalling lots I was thinking the battery would be doing more work on a pedal assist bike.
