Hello lovely Pedelec people

Bit of an odd one this... So I bought an e-bike and after a couple of months the battery failed to charge in its little dock. Now, the manufacturer was great and sent me a replacement battery, which charges fine, but (and this is the cheeky bit) since the old battery works on the bike, just won't charge, I'd love to pay someone to fix the charging connection / whatever's wrong.

Anyone got any idea of what kind of shop I'd take it to? I'd happily chuck a hundred quid at someone to fix it since new batteries are circa £300.

Obviously, Maplins and PC shops won't be interested, but they seem to make up 100% of 'electrical shops'.

Any thoughts?

Spend 50 quid on a soldering iron , a digital multimeter and a screw drive in Maplins or Aldi . You might not fix the problem, chances are you will and you will have a new skill and more confidence.

I guess I'm a classic millennial / lazy London type. I'd rather just throw money at someone to have a go. What a sad state of affairs!

The chances are that it is a broken wire or a bad solder joint on the internal charging connector. If not then a loose wire or bad joint to the bms or one of the sense wires from the BMS to the cell groups, any one of these will stop the charge from occurring.

What battery do you have or bike it's off ?

I'm 20 miles north of you and may be able to help out, once the battery is open it shouldn't be hard to trace any duff wiring with a volt/continuity meter.

P.M me if you wish.

Unfortunately, you have to get out a screwdriver and meter to find out what's wrong before anybody can talk about how or where to get it repaired. It could be total scrap or something easy to fix. It doesn't make sense to pay someone £30 to tell you it's scrap. Also, it's virtually impossible to send it anywhere, so you'll have additional travelling costs.
