I've ended up buying a 2009 model with two 26 volt 9Ah Li/ion batteries. As expected both batteries are down I'm getting around 15 miles or so from them using the mid range power option. I've seen new batteries on Ali Baba for 150 dollars but they are 24v10Ah would these serve as replacements or would they compromise the performance?
Thanks

Yes, any 24v or 26v battery will be OK. Despite the designation, they're the same voltage of 29.4v fully charged.

If you want, you can chuck that whole rack arrangement, fit a normal rack, and then the battery of your choice., like this 15aH one for more range and a bit more power.

Here's their Giant one.

Sorry, I missed this one with 12aH that might be ideal:

Thanks for that I work out that with vat,no duty applicable, it's £184 providing the carrier accepts it at 75 dollars otherwise the freight could about 130 dollars, which edges it closer to the £260 mark which are available here occasionally

I don't know where you get those figures from. The 12aH one os $169 plus $74 shipping, which comes to $243, which is £152. Expect to pay about £30 duty/VAT/handling. How do you suddenly jump to £260?

I don't want to seem ungrateful and I appreciate your wisdom, the higher postage rate at 103 dollars and added vat pushes it to the two hundred mark.I did say edging closer.
Thanks once again.

Why do you want to choose the higher cost shipping?

Any VAT isn't going to be computed in a conventional way when you get the bill either. See d8veh's post for likely cost.
