Saw these helmets online available from DECATHALON.

Unscar ER Helmet B'TWIN - Helmets Cycling - On sale at Decathlon.co.uk

This is a store I have never heard of up here in the far North nor am I aware of many of the brands they sell. This particular helmet looks less like the strange pineapples that Lycra clad racing folk wear and I wonder if anyone has any experience of the helmet and, or the stores. Pricing is around £30
thanks
Countryman.

Almost everything they sell is "own brand" but never could decide if that was good or bad. The one nearest to me has been open for atleast 10 years. Usually they seem expensive for simple stuff so I get it another place.

As for helmet styles a few friends who work in bike shops have said that style or bmx style helmets are better for commuters. If a car knocks you off then it is rare to impact head on/forehead which is what the track styles are designed for where as the bmx style are for impacts from all around. Touch wood, I haven't yet needed to test that theory out. As for one against another of the same style, I have no idea so just go on prices or models from the same brand.

That looks quite similar to the Bell Faction sold in Halfords for the same money, but without the peak.

£26 when they have their regular 25% offoffer.

Comfy hat & not too bad in this extreeem heat :p

Thanks for the insights so far, in particular it was interesting to see the background to a large company that I didn't even know existed! I have seen the CASCo one you have talked about Dave. They do really good but are they £99 of goodness! If anyone has any thoughts on "not a pineapple please" helmets I would welcome them as my anticipated E-bike arrival date gets closer

Giro Feature Mountain Bike Helmet black (Head circumference: 59-63 cm): Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors

Bern Brentwood Helmet | Evans Cycles

The giro ones are also available in yellows and oranges and other hivis colours so if your keen on that then do another search on amazon for "giro helmet".
