Hi i made a silly mistake today,i noticed that my stand on my bike was not lined up. So i decided to nip it up, and in doing so i failed to notice 2 wires a blue one and a yellow one, that lead to my motor. Anyway to cut a long story short i went through the wires. I have joined them up again but it is still showing no power. any advice would be welcome

This doesn't sound too good.

I've just had a look at the wiring schematic for that machine.

If the machine was switched on when the stand severed the blue and yellow wires, this would have created a "short" return to the controller and possibly damaged it.

Before we assume the worst you need to carry out the following checks.

Switch the machine on...The "talent" battery state meter on the handlebars should light up. If it does, but there is no power to the motor then the controller may be damaged.

If the battery state meter does not light up, then you need to check the fuse on the battery. This is behind a black cap next to the charger connection. The fuse is a 20 amp ceramic "microwave" fuse so you will need a multimeter to check it. If the fuse is blown you can usually find them on Ebay sold as a twin pack or contact Synergie Bikes who may be able to send you some. If you have a domestic appliance repair shop near you they may have them.

If you need any more help then post a reply and I'll try to help if I can.

Fingers crossed Link for fuses

Regards

Bob

Hi Bob thankyou for your reply. I have took your advice there are 2 fuses on my battery, 1 at the top and another further down, i didnt know which was which fuse so i tried to take out the top fuse, unfortunatly the plastic cap shattered and came away from the fuse. I got in touch with Synergie as the battery is under warranty, only just it runs out on Sunday. Synergie said that the fuse that i tried to take out was for the charging of the battery so it wont be that fuse. I took the other 1 out and replaced it, when i turn the key the bike comes on but is in drive all the time without even turning the accelorator. I got back in touch with Synergie and they said that my controller is damaged a new 1 will cost me £65. They have offered to fix the battery i have to pay the postage and they will pay for it returning to me.
I was just thinking should'nt the fuse protect the control box or am i wrong.
i would be grateful for any advice.

Hi Sammy,

The main fuse protects the battery and wiring to the controller, but not the controllers output to the motor. This really is a bit of bad luck, and costly as well. I'm afraid Europa Cycles do tend to add a fair bit of loading on replacement parts. When the new parts are fitted just make sure it can't happen again.

I hope everything goes smoothly and you can then enjoy using your machine as before.

Thanks bob for your quick reply. It looks like i am going to have to go for a new controller is it better to buy from Synergie or shop around? if i buy else where will it effect the remaining warranty on the bike.
Sorry to be a pain.
Regards Sammy

Yes Sammy, if you fit a "foreign" controller it will invalidate your warranty.

It's possible you could save a few pounds by buying a generic controller, but it's unlikely the wiring would be the same. It only takes a wrong connection to blow the battery meter LED's and possibly ruin the throttle as well. I think it's much better to buy a replacement from Synergie, at least you know it will be "plug and play".

When the new controller arrives, don't fall into the trap of removing all the connection at once. Move the connections one at a time, from the old, to the new controller.

You really have been unfortunate to suffer this breakdown, but, I'm afraid it's time to dig deep into your pocket and put it all down to a bad experience. It happens to all of us now and again.

All the best
