A year ago we bought a couple compacts; Kalkhoff Sahel 8i (Shimano Nexus hub 8-gear with chain) and a Riese & Muller Tinker (Nuvinci Envoilo with gates belt). Compacts as we were intending to use when travelling in our campervan; we managed one weekend trip away before lockdown.
The R&M has really been a game changer, not cheap but I would now be reluctant return to derailleur. It's been that much fun that I made a cheeky bid on a used Tinker the other day (not successfully).
I stumbled on this site when I was researching the Kalfhoff and more recently when looking at the Wisper Wayfarer Adventure (Derailleurs!!)
