Hi all

Great forum, new to electric bikes but hoping to change this, I'm possibly looking to covert my Carrera Vengeance, or buy an electric mountain bike.

I'm also an astronomer and luckily stay in the Scottish Highlands where the skies are dark.

Cheers

Hi Martin,

Welcome to the forum, the best place to get good advice and see what is going on the world of electric bikes.

Cyclezee supply quality conversion kits from three leading brands as well as electric mountain bikes so please have a look at our website.

I guess you don't suffer from light pollution like we do here in heavily populated south.

I was brought up in a rural area and found the night sky fascinating.

Hi

Thanks, I'll check out the website, not sure whether to convert or just buy a bike, I need something that can handle mountain paths and old unused roads, a lot of hills but the riding is mostly smooth, all the riding is on private land,

There are lots of things to consider as well as the style of bike although an MTB does sound like your best option for the terrain where you want to ride.

Some information that would help get good advice for your requirements are range which is dictated by several factors, weight of rider, topography, rider input, level of electric assistance required and battery capacity.

Then there are the features that you would like, pedelec only or dual mode with a throttle, hub motor or centre drive, in the case of a hub motor, front or rear drive, battery position etc.

Cost is a big deciding factor, if your budget is under £1000 then a conversion kit is probably the way to go, e.g. http://www.cyclezee.com/ezee-conversion-kits.html but if have a budget of say £2000 then a complete high end electric MTB is a possibility, here are a couple of examples that we can supply http://www.cyclezee.com/ex-demo-electric-bikes.html or http://www.cyclezee.com/atlas-emb-mountain-bike.html
