How do I refresh/condition a 36volt 10amp Lithium Battery

My 36volt 10amp Lithium ion battery is only charging up to 40.6 volts and seems like the cells in the battery have been depleted which has resulted in a reduced range as my battery used to charge up to 42 volts. How do I refresh/condition this battery as it cuts out on the bike so I cannot discharge it anymore. What equipment do I need to discharge it further before recharging? Is there a battery charger cum conditioner on the market that would refresh the battery and bring it up to it's former glory? Any advice would be appreciated. aggie

I'm sure someone with more electronic bike knowledge than me will be along soon to answer/correct my thoughts here, but i'll give you my electrical engineering battery knowledge :)

Lithium ion batterys aren't really recoverable in the traditional sense as far as i'm aware (ie dabbing mains/high voltage or static level charging from a bigger cell won't help)

you don't want to discharge it further as this will totally destroy the cells.

your best chance of recovery is trickle charging over a long period, but where we've done this, its typically to temporarily power something to recover data, and i don't think it will work long term.

sorry not very helpful, but like i say sure someone will be along soon with a better answer :)

To give accurate advice, we need to know exactly what battery it is. Your battery is at a reduced voltage because the cells are out of balance. There's a few reasons why this happens. If it went down after the bike wasn't used for a while. it should be recoverable. If it went down gradually over a couple of years. it probably isn't

Sometimes your charger can re-balance it if you leave it on charge for a long time after it's full, so try that first. The other way is to open the battery and charge the low cells with a phone charger or similar.
