How to convert Dpc-14 LCD display to removable?

I recently had my Dpc-14 display broken off my bike by thieves. They took the display without the buttons or cable. Clearly just taking a ****. I have replaced the display since then. My question to you experts is, how can I make the display to the removable so that I am able to take the display with me whenever I have to park the bike outside?

I am quite the handy woman and also am able to solder and do any kind of wiring. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you!

They probably nicked it because they thought it was a GPS or some fancy cycle computer. Rather than make it removeable, what about making it unnickable by making a metal bracket for it instead of using the crappy plastic thing. This one has an aluminium bracket, but you could just as easily make one out of stainless steel. it fixes to the two screws on the back of the display. It's very rigid, so doesn't feel like it would come of if you grab hold of it and give a good pull. All you need is a Dremmel to make a bracket.

Hi d8veh! :) Thanks for your reply. You are right, they must have thought it was some sort of fancy stuff. I will start looking at ways i can construct this out of stainless steal perhaps. Could you please show me the back of your display?

Also, I am still open to suggestions on how to perhaps make my DPC-14 removable in the future :(

It's just a flat triangular plate with two holes for the LCD screws and one big hole for the stem cap. Stick it in a vice to bend it up a bit.
