How to test a mofet

So basically all you need is a multimeter which has a diode test range and puts 3-4v across it. Whatever that means :confused: ..

However .... it is good to know that these things can be easily tested as it looks like having one go dud is a bit of a hazard to your fire insurance risk :eek: . So now all you need to do is shell out £70-£100 on a multimeter which fits the bill (where does it end ?!!! lol.).

Plus a good soldering iron, solder sucker maybe braid as well, time and practice to remove the FET before you can test it! :D

Aha ... I was thinking since the pins protrude below the circuit board a bit you could touch them in situ ... but if they are linked when installed then maybe that's not the way to do it ? !

It's good for testing FETs before installing them though especially if you get them in cheap / bulk - that's where my mind went first to be honest.

That multimeter is a bargain though. Can't say no to one of those at that price as seem to read regularly about recommends to test various things with a multimeter in fault diagnostic advice etc.
