I didn't introduce myself before as I was wrestling with issues of my kit but now they seem to be under control I feel happier and more confident about introducing myself.

Hi my name is James. I'm 33 and live near Royston (near Cambridge). I have had an electric bike since Feb 2014 and have enjoyed every minute of it. Like alot of you I like to try to push it to the limits of its range and then get frustrated when I wear parts out on the bike faster than I have been expecting.
I have mounted the now no longer sold 36V 10Ah Juicy bike conversion kit onto my Raleigh Venture with 700c wheels. I have a large framed bike and went for a conversion kit as there is not that much out there at low end of the price range for the taller man (I have a 33" inside leg.) Converted my bike weighs 20ish kg (inc battery) to which I add my 90-95 kg of wseight and a pair of panniers containing between 5 and 15kg of extra luggage (change of clothes, lunch box, laptop if required etc).
I discovered last year that cycling in lycra was warmer and allows me have definitive clothes for commuting which if the get rained on/sweaty/muddy means I can change at work and be clean, dry, and presentable for the day. Lycra trousers also don't get caught in the chain/suffer from oil marks, so I am that oddball cyclist who wears lycra but has a battery!
I got into E-bikes after I noticed a kickstarter project for something one lunchtime and someone reviewing it pointed to an alternative - the "ridekick" - loved the concept but legality over here is dubious even if you could fit brake cutout switches to the motor - which you can't.
Spent the whole of Jan lunchtimes reading this forum without becoming a member to gain info after my parents gave me money to buy an e-bike for my birthday and Christmas (as long as I didn't top I up)! Settled on the Juicy kit as it was legal and saved space on storage of another bike.
I work 20miles from home but only have a 1 1/2 mile trip to the train station at each end if I want to catch the train. Unfortunately I find myself still taking the train as cycling is sooo addictive I try to do do much to fast and make myself ill.
The other reason for having an ebike is that I have epilepsy and always have the potential to lose my driving license for a minimum of 12 months (time period is determined by seizure control and doctors agreeing). The ebike give me some of the freedom that I would lose with the loss of a car without a willing chauffeur. This is good as I lost my license on medical grounds in August for the first time in 9 years, so my ebike is my freedom!
Just purchased a Giant Suede from ebay to resurrect on the side as a project over the next few months, hopefully I can get my wife/mother/father-in-law on the bike a bit more (haven't decided yet who this will be for!)
