Hi all,

This is what i understand about the function of pedal assistance, please correct me if i'm wrong. With power on and PAS engaged you should complete one turn of the pedal ie (one turn revolution) in order for the pedal assist to kick in and do it's job until you stop peddling then PAS is no longer required, in turn cuts off all power to the motor via the controller.

If this is correct, sometimes of late i notice that when i am just about to set off for a ride, then shortly afterwards i decide to use the pedal assist, i have to turn the pedal about three or four times before it starts to respond. What i normally find is that whenever this problem occurs i would quickly turn off the PAS then cut off all power supply, start up again, then it seems to be OK after that.

Therefore the question is,do you think something is at fault or is an electrical part on it's way out and requires replacement? Can anyone help ???????????????

Okay, couple of things you might want to check.

The PAS is initiated when the controller receives a sequence of pulses from the sender unit mounted on the pedal shaft. If the plastic ring mounted on the pedal crank axle containing the magnets is a bit "wonky", it will take more revolutions of the crank axle to send the neccessary number of pulses to initiate the PAS. The disc containing the magnets is easily moved with your fingers...just set it so that the disc is around 3mm away from the sensor through a full turn of the pedals.

Some controllers also demonstrate this behavior. One of my machines always requires three full turns of the pedals after using the throttle. In such cases, it's better to hang on to the throttle until the machine is up on the flat and the three or four turns of the pedals before the PAS initiates wont be problem.

Another less important problem you may wish to address, if you hold any key on your keyboard for more than a few seconds, it results in a constant stream of characterssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

hope this helps
Have a nice day

I'd make it as close as you can without touching. The closer, the better.

Hi d8veh,

Good day and thank you for replying to my thread. I will clean the magnets and reposition the disc as close as possible.
