It has been a while since I last posted so thought I would pop by and give you an update.
After spending alot of time lurking on this forum and then going off and putting all the great advice gleaned and testing lots of ebikes I finally got a machine!
Not an ebike!!!
Because of my back problems I went and tested some recumbents and found one I loved. It is a three wheeled "tadpole" trike made by ICE (Inspired Cycle Engineering) It has been brilliant. I have had it a few weeks now and absolutely love it. I am terribly unfit and have to ride very slowly and take lots of breaks when the lactic acid builds up but I am so comfy on it that that does not matter too much.
I may get a motor for the back wheel to help with the hills but to be honest I am enjoying the ride without assistance. I am sure my legs will get stronger and my stamina will increase.

Thank you all on this board for all your advice and help in trying to sort me out. I know I did not get an ebike in the end, but I have to say I am delighted with the way things turned out.
I am looking forwards to a new life of fitness and not wheezing.
